Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak or QSQT (From Doom to Doom) is a 1988 Indian romantic drama film written by Nasir Hussain and directed by his son Mansoor Khan.
The plot hints to be inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The film starred Hussain’s nephew, Aamir Khan, with Juhi Chawla in their first major roles. Upon release, the movie was a major success, was declared a blockbuster at the box office, and shot its leading stars to fame overnight. It was also the first major hit for the music-director duo of Anand-Milind and singers Udit Narayan. It was singer Alka Yagnik’s first complete album.
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’s music, romantic storyline , and young actors shifted the momentum away from the violent and aging ethos that were prevalent in the films at the time. It made melodious tunes once again popular over the 80’s trend of disco- and breakdance-influenced soundtracks. Indiatimes Movies ranks the movie amongst the “Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films”.
